Back In the Saddle Again

april at the castleHi Folks! Well, the family and I made it back to Germany this week in one piece. It was a wonderful trip back to the states, despite some crazy travel problems (people dying on the plane, car breaking down on the Autobahn…). It is good to be back home, though.

I hope that you had some fun yourselves during the holiday season and that you are enjoying the year 2008 so far. It’s been weird for me at the moment, with some big changes in store for me around the corner. Perhaps I’ll tell more about that later.

For now, however, I wanted to let you know that I’ll have a new episode out soon. I’ll be talking about the experience of going back “home” for the first time in 4 years after having been abroad. Going back to your native country after some time overseas can be an odd, even discomforting feeling, despite all the fun usually involved. I’ve seen this with many other expats and have, once again, experienced it for myself.

Keep your eyes out for the next episode and lots of best wishes from Germany!

  2. hi Vanessa! Sorry to reply soooo late. I’ve been all over the place since coming back from the States. Glad to hear from you and glad to hear that you’ve made the move. I hope that you’ve had a chance to settle down from all the stress and really start to get into the ups and downs of living in Germany. Talk to you soon!

  3. Sorry to be peevish, I know you are busy :-) . It’s just that “people dying on the plane” was kind of a maddening thing to say without prompt elaboration.

I am still in the U.S. visiting my family near Atlanta and tying up loose ends, but my husband has started work and is blogging about his experiences. His blog is here.
