With the holidays coming so fast I thought that I’d better take some time to get out another episode to you right away. I love the winter holidays and I especially love them in Germany, where a lot of tradition, good food and a cozy atmosphere are always on hand.
There is always something tasty to eat, some lovely wine to enjoy and lots and lots of family when it comes to Christmas at our house.
In order to give you a feel of some of the? traditions which are recognized here in Germany? (as well as to tell you about some o the food and drink that you should be on the look-out for) I’ve recorded this 14th episode for you.

We listened to your podcast Christmas Day and the kids really perked up when they heard my name :-). My husband and I were flying back from Germany at the time you uploaded it. We were there for a week, I had a wonderful time (I had never been to Germany before), and we made all the arrangements for our permanent move in February. We visited the Christmas markets in L?beck, Pl?n, Kiel…fabulous. I was surprised by how warm and friendly everyone was and I think this is going to be a wonderful experience. Also, I don’t speak much German, but both times there was a serious communication error I ended up holding something with a lot of rum in it. I couldn’t figure it out…

Chocolate really isn’t good for dogs, but the husky that ate it would have to eat around 60 pounds of it to really get himself into trouble.

I found your podcast not long ago so I’m catching up on the older episodes. So I just listened to this one today.
I am of German descent but I’ve never been able to visit Germany. Growing up we always had Advent calendars and Lebkuchen at Christmas time. However it wasn’t until a few years ago that I learned that some Advent calendars have chocolate in them. I was cheated!!! I missed out on years of holiday chocolate!
Now you tell me that they also come with beer?!!? Why does no one tell me these things!
I enjoy the podcast. It seems you’re on a bit of a break but by the time I catch up I hope to hear some new ones.
