Episode 20 Coming Soon

Hey folks, just wanted to let you know that the newest podcast will be coming soon.
I’ll be talking about Nationalism, or lack thereof, in Germany as well as discussing the reaction to the shooting in Winnenden this week.
Lastly, I’ve got a new band that I’d like to play for you, so it should be a LONG episode.
looking forward to hearing your comments!

Hi Taural,
We are ex-pats living northern Germany in a town of about 12,000 people. Yesterday morning about 5am a full marching band of at least twenty people starting playing outside seemingly random windows in our neighborhood. They were accompanied by two policemen, I think to provide protection in case people became inclined to violence. I asked the parents at my children’s school and they said that the people in my city were crazy
and they had no idea what this was about. Do you have any information? We speculate that it was some kind of fundraiser, people paying them to annoy friends/enemies who in turn pay them to go away. What do you think?

I just discovered your podcasts yesterday and have been consuming them ravenously! I know it is a thankless job, but I sure do hope you decide to start producing them again. I listen to many podcasts, and I have to say that you are quite good at it. The longer episodes are just as interesting as the shorter ones, I love how you highlight songs from German bands. I’d love to hear what Germans do for recreation, how Germans stay fit, more reviews of German cities (the Hamburg and Bavaria episodes made me want to go!), how Americans can go about relocating there, German views on American current events, your American point-of-view about social democracy, political differences between the various regions in Germany, where one would want to live to be close to hiking/biking trails for daily use, what industries are likely to hire Americans, how long did it take you to become fluent in German and how did you go about doing it … but really, whatever interests you, whatever you get excited about, that is something I would also like to listen to. You are an engaging speaker!
Thanks much,
Kristina
