Episode 4: an introduction to the State of Bavaria

Bavarian Coat of Arms

the Bavarian Coat of Arms

In this podcast you will find out all about Bavaria, including the four major travel regions in Bavaria, some special places to visit like Nuremberg, the wine growing region Franconia and the lovely medieval walled citry of Rothenberg ob der Tauber. And I tell you bit about the Bavarians and how they are actually a lot like Texans.

In this podcast I have also mentioned some of the best resources which I have discovered as a fledgling podcaster:

Jason Van Orden’s podcast called the Podcasting Underground

Gigavox Media’s podcast called the Podcast Academy

And lastly, I think that you should check out the great podcast, Italy From the Inside, a similarly minded travel podcast about Italy. Happy listening!

  1. The analogy between Bavaria and Texas was good. I’ve never really thought about the two together before like that, but I think it really works. I’ve never been to Bavaria itself—hmm…maybe I’ll hit it up if I have some time this summer—but having lived in the Southwest of Germany where you basically are now, I see the connection. It’s funny cuz I can’t seem to escape Texas as well. After my own run in Baden Wuertemberg for a year, I now live in the most Texas-ish part of another country, though this one is in Southeast Asia. I guess the program managers of Peace Corps Thailand knew a redneck when they saw one, because I ended up in the most Texas part of Thailand for my two year service—in Isan, the Northeastern region of Thailand. The Isan people have a pride that is similar to what the Bavarians of Germany or the Texans of America have for their own land.

Thanks also for adding those links to other podcasts, as well as the one on how to go about it yourself.

    Peace!

  2. Thanks Tom!
as always, I do appreaciate your feedback. It was really amazing for me to realize how diverse the various regions of Germany are.
And it is interesting to hear that the same is true for Thailand as well.
